We’re a social investment enterprise based in the heart of Soweto. Born out of the struggle and fight for human rights and equality, Phaphama still has the zeal and eagerness to bring sustainable, beneficial change in people’s lives. We are a self-sustaining NGO that offers tourism opportunities as well as paid training programmes to governments, corporations, organisations and the general public. We’ve managed to touch and change lives beyond the borders of Soweto and South Africa, improving the general living conditions of our communities.
Throughout the world there are environments in which destructive human relationships prevent people or organisations from reaching their full potential, which in the long run hinders economic growth. We operate with the upmost integrity to mentor and nurture people within these environments. Our aim is to create resilient, resourceful and caring communities. To achieve this, Phaphama is creating a safe space where people are empowered to work on their emotional, social, relational, and practical intelligence, developing the leader within with refined skills. These are the same skills that will empower our communities to overcome socio economic issues such as domestic and general violence, rape, drug abuse and the debilitating effects of poverty due to lack of access to resources.
