Community Mapping is essentially a tool to involve people in a community in jointly:

Researching their community; Imagining a better future, and Taking action together to bring that future to life. 

As a key MaL component, Community Mapping can take anything between three to five days of taking participants through the theoretical and practical work of assets-based mapping in their community.

It is generally a combination of several different activities: 

• Creating a Timeline (Mapping the Past)
• Physical mapping (Mapping the Present)
  • Mapping strengths and resources,
  • Mapping challenges,
  • Mapping in more depth specific issues of interest,
• Collecting information and conducting interviews to learn more,
• Consulting key community stakeholders
• Jointly imagining the future, and
• Developing concrete ideas for action to create that desired future in reality.

In this component, participants also get to have a basic understanding of the circular economy and how this impacts the economic wellbeing of their community.
